The programmes are delivered in two levels, Induction and Intensive.
Intensive level
This programme is a 12 week course and is a continuation of the six week induction course. It is delivered once a week in sessions of 3 and a half hours.
This programme focuses on serious child discipline issues which are so problematic that parents struggle to cope with parenting. The programme aims to help you explore your own emotions and how they are affected by your child / children. It helps you to understand your child’s behaviour and how they relate to their environment. Together we look at how you could be at risk of maltreating your child/children due to family dysfunction, depression, stress, family conflict or your own issues from your past.
To help parents explore their own mind and feelings and look at how parenting has been influenced by their own parental behaviour and culture.
The programme identifies systemic difference and choice. Explores how this impacts on parents socially and culturally. The programme reflects on how parents’ behaviour affects children’s behaviour and how to react appropriately and consistently to reduce misbehaviour in children.
The programme looks at conscious and unconscious ways of punishing, getting even, punishing in anger, and punishing as a way of negotiating. The programme has a systemic approach and identifies beliefs systems from all aspects of socially, culturally, politically, and institutionally.
